This amazing filament is a blend of PLA and carbon Fiber by ProtoPasta in the USA. It prints easily at 230-245 degrees on a cold bed. We used glue on a glass bed for our test. Tendancy to leave small balls/pimples on surface which easily clean up. Will wear nozzle so we advise using a wear resistant nozzle (sold seperately). Produces impressively strong models with minimum fuss and difficulty.
The original is still the best! Worlds First Carbon Fiber PLA filament was kickstarted by ProtoPlant nearly 5 years ago. Others try, but cant match the quality and ease of printing experience afforded by this product.
Protopasta Carbon Fiber PLA is based on our easy printing, high quality PLA. Made from the highest quality, dry ingredients and extruded with care in our Washington facility on our own purpose-built extrusion systems. CFPLA prints are demonstrably more rigid with easy processing (often using standard PLA settings) and support removal. Excellent layer adhesion and minimal warpage even without a heated bed make this a great everyday exotic for accurate parts. Layer lines disappear with the beautiful matte black finish. Also has a slight sheen due to the embedded carbon making it very photogenic!
**This filament is slightly more abrasive than standard PLA. Be prepared to replace your nozzle and do 1st layer adjustment after prolonged use or upgrade to a wear resistant nozzle for less maintenance.
Usable on most PLA-compatible printers, such as Lulzbot, Makerbot, FlashForge, Dremel, Ultimaker, Printrbot, and more!
In filament form, CFPLA is slightly more brittle than standard PLA, and requires extra care when handling.
Processing is comparable to standard PLA. No heated bed required. Process may be less consistent on smaller nozzles and/or bowden type machines.
We frequently print using direct-drive systems with 0.4mm nozzles and print as high as 240C, though suggest 0.6mm and 210-230C for the best experience.

We have printed a lot of this material using the Makerbot Replicator 2 with the TC coated nozzle.
These are the settings we use:
Extrution temp: 240 degrees
Resolution: Usually at 200 micron. Finer does not tend to be as reliably, and layer adhesion is more poor at 300 micron
Print/travel speed: The default 80 mm per second.
Shells (wall layers): Usually 3 or more
Fill: 15-20 percent fill.
Rafts and Support: Supports work well and can easily be removed in accesible places. We use a rat tail (or jewlery file) to smooth off support contact points. Rafts on the other hand can be very difficlt to remove.
Build surface: Generally we print straight onto cold glass plate

Proto-pasta Magnetic Iron PLA - as its name implies - responds to magnets and behaves similarly to pure iron, even to the point of rusting! Magnetism opens up a new world of practical applications and fun creations.
It extrudes at 190-200 degrees c on a cold bed. We have tested on buildtak wit glue stick and it sticks well. Prints best at thicker resolutions like 300 microns, but will look like 100 micron. Our tests showed no spider webbing at all, and models held water after printing. It can lift in unsupported areas, but quickly recovers on the next layer. Sands nicely with very course sandpaper. Can get rust effect by submerging in with salty water for 2-3 hours. In our tests it was not too abrasive on nozzle, but recommend a wear resistant nozzle.
