Fiber Adhesion Technology™

Fiber Adhesion™ Technology improves the layer adhesion of fiber reinforced materials, by optimizing the surface chemistry of the fibers to achieve better dispersion and bonding to the polyamide matrix. This results in better strength along the Z-axis and reduced mechanical anisotropy when compared to a pure Nylon PA6 printed parts. This in-house technology was developed exclusively to combat the problem of adding fibers to filaments. All other brand fiber reinforced materials show a decrease in z-axis layer adhesion when compared with their non-fiber reinforced Nylons producing a part that is only stronger on the X-Y axis but detrimental to the Z axis. Polymaker’s new technology not only solves this problem but actually increases Z axis tensile strength creating more isotropic parts that are strong in every direction.

Print Settings

Nozzle Temp: 280-300°C
Bed Temp: 25-50°C (do not exceed 50)
Camber Temp: 25-50°C (do not exceed 50)
Printing Speed: 60mm/s
Cooling Fan: OFF
Bed Surface: Almost any surface with a thin coat of PVA or 3DLac, flex plate recommended
Wear Resistant Nozzle: Recommended as the 25% chopped glass fibers (by weight) is highly abrasive
Annealing: Recommended at 90°C for 2 hours
Supports: PolyDissolve S1 recommended, remove supports as soon as printing completes as atmospheric moisture will cause the supports to bond better with the model, making them harder to remove.
Feeding: This is a very stiff filament, and a little brittle, so a feeder tube and no corners in your feeding path are recommended.
Moisture: PolyMide PA6 is very hydroscopic, so it will absorb moisture quickly from the air. a PolyBox or similar filament storage and feeding system is recommended. Moist filament can be dried at 80°C for 12 hours in a conventional oven.

Heat Deflection Temp: 124°C (1.80 Mpa HDT-a) AND 191°C (0.45 Mp HDT-B) tested to ASTM D648 (ISO 75)
Youngs Modulus: 4431 Mpa tested to ATSM D638 (ISO 527, GB/T 1040)
Charpy Impact Resistance: 16.5 kJ/m² tested to ASTM D256 (ISO 179, GB/T 1043)
Tensile Strength: Thanks to PolyMakers Fiber Adhesion Technology, layer adhesion is improved by 15%, giving a tensile strength in the Z-axis of 61.4Mpa according to ASTM D638 (ISO 527, GB/T1040)
