Analysing the feedback from the users of filament, Spectrum decided to expand the range of materials for outdoor use in conditions of increased exposure to UV radiation, temperature and humidity. ASA, a well-known polymer that is a highly weather-resistant alternative to ABS, has become the base for another composite material, Spectrum ASA-X CF10.

The first of the PCTG-based composites we developed was a carbon fibre version - PCTG CF10. The carbon fibres used give the filament an extremely high stiffness, while reducing the brittle fracture typical for other PETG-based carbon composites. PCTG CF10 filament allows the printing of parts with increased hardness and tensile strength compared to classic PCTG. The use of carbon fibres increases the thermal resistance of the filament, further reduces shrinkage and gives the characteristic carbon matt appearance to the printed models.

Nylon PA6 CF15 is a high-temperature, black, PA6-based construction material. Filling with 15% carbon fibres increases significantly the mechanical strength of the polyamide the material is based on.

The filaments specific quality is the moisture absorption reduced by half and the water absorption time is four times lower than that of the pure PA6. Printing does not require a heated chamber and no deformation occurs. The material is compatible with the HIPS and BVOH support materials. In addition, Nylon PA6 CF15 features a very low linear shrinkage (up to 0.1%), a high deformation temperature (240°C), working temperature (180°C) and low thermal expansion coefficient (0.4 10-5/K).
